»Success lies in the value you create for others«
Andreas Nyland
Consultant
Andreas grew up in Mo i Rana, the largest town in the Helgeland region very near the Arctic Circle. Here he spent his childhood and teenage years before taking the leap to move away from home in 2017 to join Norwegian Armed forces to serve his first service. From here, his journey led him to Trondheim, where he pursued a master’s degree in communication and digital security at NTNU.
»Moving away from home at a young age was a big step – first for the military, then directly into five years of studies in Trondheim. Time flies and you have to grow up quickly, but you learn a lot about yourself«, Andreas explains.
During his studies, he was actively engaged in the student community, both serving as captain of Datakameratene football club, and as a member of the PR committee for the revue of Abakus.
»I’ve always liked keeping myself busy. Whether it is through student organisations, football or other social happenings, being a part of community is something that gives me energy. I believe this has also made it easier for me to collaborate with people«, Andreas adds.

Growth and fulfilment shaped his career
After five years in Trondheim, Andreas faced an important decision when choosing his first workplace. For him, it was not just about professional development, but finding an environment that prioritised well-being and strong relationships was just as important.
»As a student, I realised how important strong relationships and a sense of belonging were for my happiness and growth as a person. That is why these factors were essential when choosing my first job after graduating«, Andreas explains, continuing:
»I remember considering multiple offers, but ultimately, my gut feeling led me to Netcompany. After meeting representatives at various career fairs and company presentations, I felt that I could relate to the people here and I knew that I would thrive. I’ve always valued working in an environment where colleagues are more than just coworkers – they can also become good friends«, he adds.

»I believe it’s important to find a balance in life – one where you can excel and grow, but also take time to recharge and do the things that bring you joy.«

Dedicated to empowering new employees
Since joining Netcompany in 2023, Andreas has grown rapidly, quickly becoming a key contributor. Today, he plays a vital role in the DigiBarnevern project, helping to shape the future of child welfare systems in Norway. In addition to his project work, he is actively involved in Netcompany`s internal activity committee, working to foster a strong and engaging social environment within the company.
»I think the combination of a steep learning curve, early responsibility, and a strong work culture has been crucial to my development. At the same time, being part of the activity committee has helped me immerse myself in the company culture and forge connections across teams«, Andreas says.
»I still remember the warm welcome I received when joining Netcompany, and how it made me feel at home and allowed me to grow from day one. It is all about creating a strong community where everyone can thrive and succeed – which is why it is also important for me to give back by supporting new employees, helping them feel the same sense of comfort and belonging«, he explains.

Success & well-being
Andreas believes that many recent graduates experience performance pressure when starting their careers, making it harder to maintain joy in their work and see the bigger picture. For him, success is not just about personal achievements – it is also about the impact and influence one has on the people around them.
»I think the experience you gain early in your career can shape your future path, so it is important to seize the opportunities that come your way. At the same time, I think many recent graduates feel pressured to perform, often measuring their worth only by deadlines and tasks. Because of this, one might lose sight of the bigger picture. Therefore, I believe it is important to find a balance in life – one where you can excel and grow but also take time to recharge and do the things that bring you joy. Playing football at Bækkelaget and staying social in my free time helps me recharge and enjoy the journey«, Andreas reflects.
»I believe that the greatest success in life lies in the value you can create for those around you. So, while I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved in my career, I’m even prouder of the difference I’ve made in the lives of others«, he concludes.
