Denmark leads the way in sovereign AI: Unlocking billion-euro potential and freeing up time for thousands of public-sector workers

The introduction of a sovereign European AI solution combining the capabilities of Netcompany and DCAI enables Denmark and the EU to unlock billion-euro efficiency gains and redirect resources back into essential welfare services such as schools, healthcare, elderly care, and citizen-facing case management without compromising data security or regulation.

Netcompany’s leading AI platform, EASLEY AI, now runs on Denmark’s AI supercomputer Gefion, operated by DCAI. As one of Europe’s first sovereign AI solutions, it enables public authorities to deploy artificial intelligence while fully complying with European rules and regulations. Netcompany will gradually migrate all its AI solutions to Gefion, allowing customers across sectors to benefit from the same secure, sovereign and European-anchored infrastructure.

The solution removes long-standing barriers that have slowed public-sector adoption of AI, including uncertainty around regulation, data security, and data protection.

Estimates show that Denmark’s public sector could achieve up to DKK 55 billion in annual productivity gains by 2040, effectively freeing the equivalent of roughly 100,000 full-time positions through the use of AI. The same potential applies across the EU, where generative AI could boost public-sector productivity by 10 percent, amounting to around EUR 100 billion each year.

»Our greatest challenge in the EU isn’t a lack of ideas for using AI. We fully understand the potential, but we’re not realising it because of concerns surrounding the models and the infrastructure, that largely sit outside Europe. That changes now. With a Danish supercomputer powering EASLEY AI - and, over time, all our AI solutions - we can deliver Danish and European AI assistants suitable for the most highly regulated sectors. The path is clear. Now it’s time to get started.«

André Rogaczewski, CEO and Co-founder of Netcompany

Research indicates that public authorities are often held back by the absence of European AI solutions that guarantee compliance with legislation, data security, and data protection, ensuring that citizens’ data remains within Europe.

Nadia Carlsten, CEO, DCAI:

»Partnering with Netcompany, Denmark’s largest IT company and a leading company in Europe, to build more AI solutions on top of the world’s most powerful AI infrastructure is a unique opportunity to show how we can fast-track AI innovation that will benefit more people. Now more solutions will be accessible to companies and public authorities that want to adopt AI while balancing the security and sovereignty of their data and systems.«

The integration of EASLEY AI on Gefion enables current and future users to build, implement, and maintain AI assistants that are fully anchored in Europe.
