Netcompany acquires Copenhagen Airports’ share of Smarter Airports, consolidating full ownership of the company behind AIRHART, which serves as the digital backbone of some of Europe’s largest airports.
Smarter Airports was founded in 2020 as a joint venture between Netcompany and Copenhagen Airports, with the ambition of developing a modern, innovative and AI-driven core platform for airport operations. The result was AIRHART, which aimed at transforming Copenhagen Airport to one of the world’s leading digital airports. AIRHART consolidates and transforms data across systems into intelligent AI-based decision support, streamlining workflows and enabling more efficient, safe and seamless airport operations. And it is designed to be scaled globally.
AIRHART has made Copenhagen Airport one of the world’s most digitally advanced airports, delivering significant improvements in capacity utilisation and measurable efficiencies across airport operations. This success has attracted some of Europe’s largest airports, including Munich Airport and Heathrow Airport, both of which have chosen AIRHART as their core platform for airport operations.
With a proven platform and growing international demand, Smarter Airports is now entering a new phase. By consolidating ownership, Netcompany will drive the commercial scaling of the business, while Copenhagen Airports gains more room to focus on its core business.
»Copenhagen Airports has been pivotal to the success of Smarter Airports and the development of AIRHART, and I am glad that our strong partnership continues in a new constellation. The agreements with Munich and Heathrow have accelerated global demand for AIRHART, and full Netcompany ownership will ensure a dedicated focus on the commercial scaling of Smarter Airports into yet another engine of growth for Netcompany’s international expansion,« says André Rogaczewski, CEO and co-founder, Netcompany.
»We are proud of what we have accomplished together with Netcompany. Smarter Airports is now ready for commercial scaling, and that requires a dedicated focus which we confidently hand over to Netcompany. At the same time, we continue our collaboration on AIRHART and gain more room to focus on our core business,« says Christian Poulsen, CEO, Copenhagen Airports.
The close collaboration between Netcompany and Copenhagen Airports continues following the change of ownership. Copenhagen Airports remains a central partner in the development and improvement of the AIRHART platform, which will continue to be a core part of the airport’s operations.
