5 Tips for your application

How do you make your CV stand out? What makes an application truly compelling? And how can you approach a technical interview with confidence? We meet many candidates every year, and we understand what makes a strong profile—and what sets the best candidates apart.

In this guide, our recruitment specialists share practical tips to help you navigate the hiring process, know what to expect, and present your skills clearly. Our goal is to support you, so you can perform at your best and take the next step in your career.

1. Create clarity with a well-structured CV

A CV should be clear, well-structured, and easy to read. Someone who does not know you should be able to quickly understand your experience and key skills.
List your work experience in reverse chronological order, starting with your current or most recent role, and include clear dates. Keep your CV concise—avoid making it too long—and focus only on experience that is relevant to the role you are applying for.

Use bullet points to make your CV easy to scan. Highlight specific achievements, skills, and responsibilities rather than keeping descriptions vague. For technical roles, clearly list the technologies you have used and mention any relevant projects.

If you are a recent graduate, include university projects (Bachelor’s or Master’s) that demonstrate your skills. You can also add a well-organised GitHub profile if you have one.

Avoid unnecessary personal details such as your full address—city and country are sufficient—and do not include irrelevant personal information.

2. Use your LinkedIn profile to your advantage

LinkedIn is a great opportunity to expand on your skills and experience.
Your profile should be consistent with your CV in terms of roles, dates, and key information, but it can include more detail. Use it to showcase areas that may not be directly relevant to a specific job application and therefore do not need to be fully covered in your CV.

Recruiters actively use LinkedIn to search for and reach out to potential candidates. Keeping your profile up to date makes it easier for them to find you and contact you.

3. The Talent Acquisition team supports you throughout the process

If you are applying for a role at Netcompany, you will be supported throughout the process by a Talent Acquisition Consultant from HR.
They will stay in touch with you, provide more information about the company and the role, ask about your experience and expectations, and be available to answer any questions you may have.

If you are offered a position, your HR contact will guide you through the contract details and discuss all relevant information, ensuring you feel well prepared for your new role.

4. Introduction Interview – what to do & what to expect

Make sure you check the location in advance and plan how to get to the office. It is a good idea to arrive a little earlier, so you do not feel rushed and have a few minutes to settle in before the interview begins.

As we work in a Consulting environment and collaborate closely with clients, you can expect a business or business casual dress code. We recommend keeping this in mind when choosing what to wear for your interview.

The first part of the interview is designed to be a two-way conversation. We want to learn more about your experience, skills, and expectations, while also giving you the opportunity to learn more about the role and the company. Please feel free to ask questions—this is an important part of the process!

5. How to handle a Technical/Case interview

If you are applying for a technical role, you will be invited to a Case Interview. In this interview, you will be asked to take the lead in working through a practical case, often using a whiteboard to write or draw your ideas. The goal is to demonstrate your analytical skills, problem-solving approach, and ability to explain your thinking.

Think of the case as a professional dialogue rather than a presentation. You are encouraged to ask questions, request clarifications, and engage with the interviewer throughout the process. You may also be asked some additional questions to explore your reasoning further.

Tips for the case:

  • Stay calm and keep the conversation going. It is not about right or wrong answers, but about your approach and thought process.
  • Explain your thinking out loud and use the whiteboard to visualise ideas.
  • Do not stress if you get stuck or do not know something—the interviewer will guide you.
  • Focus on analytical skills, your ability to pick up on hints, and how clearly you communicate your ideas. A perfectly solved case is less important than showing your reasoning and approach.
