Netcompany’s AMPLIO platform has been central to modernising one of the core systems in the Danish welfare state – the collection, disbursement, and control of public benefits.
Challenge
As an organisation within ATP (Danish Labour Market Supplementary Pension), Europe’s 3rd largest pension provider, Udbetaling Danmark is responsible for the collection, disbursement, and control of several public benefits on behalf of the Danish state and is a key player in upholding the Danish welfare society.
A central task of the organisation is to handle state- and early retirement pensions, as well as other pension-related benefits for Danish citizens in Denmark and abroad, payments that for many constitute their only income.
To ensure the continual functioning of the underlying IT infrastructure, in August 2017, ATP and Netcompany engaged in close collaboration to deliver Social Pension. This secure and efficient benefits platform delivers correct and timely payouts of benefits in a future-proof manner.

Solution
The solution went live in March 2020, fulfilling the main objectives of the project, combining several obsolete and cost-intensive systems into one modern system with significantly lower operational- and maintenance costs. In addition, it enabled streamlined case management processes, in turn lowering the training cost of new caseworkers.
The system is based on Netcompany’s standard platform AMPLIO which is also used in ATP’s Child- and Housing Benefits solutions, both delivered by Netcompany.
The solution includes a full range self-service portal, handling the assessment and calculations of benefits based on current legislation combined with different aspects in a pensioner’s life like income, cohabitation and death.
In addition to streamlining case management processes, the system also pays out the actual benefits, updates all necessary peripheral systems. Lastly, due to its modular nature, the platform is primed to quickly comply with ongoing legislative changes, such as the law as per 1st of January 2023 that pensioners with a work income will not experience a deduction in their pension.
Results
AMPLIO has successfully replaced several obsolete and cost-intensive systems in one of Denmark’s most critical IT systems, significantly reducing operational and maintenance costs while providing ATP with a modern solution that improves internal workflows. The system pays out 135 billion DKK/year to 1.35 million citizens, handles 50,000 deaths/year, and sends out over 5 million letters/year. By running smoothly, without errors, and with low cost, the system upholds the safety net at the core of the Danish welfare society.
