»Now it’s our turn to pave the way«

Marianna Lykourentzou on how diverse backgrounds drive success

Since joining Netcompany as a Senior Tester in 2017, Marianna has embodied this philosophy, evolving into a Business Delivery Assurance Manager, whose expertise now shapes major providers from various markets across Greece.
Building trust through excellence

When Marianna Lykourentzou joined Netcompany, coming from the gas & oil field, she discovered more than just a new sector – she found her professional home. As a Principal Analyst at Netcompany, she has worked with major telecommunications providers, including Cosmote, Vodafone, and Cyta, developing new products and services that transform customer experiences. »The telco field completely hooked me from the start,« she reflects. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about seeing our work transform into real products that impact millions of lives.«

She recalls watching a Vodafone advertisement on television, noting that her team had tested and validated that service. »In fact, this project stands as one of our greatest achievements.« Delivered seamlessly during the COVID-19 lockdown periods, it became one of Greece’s most successful private sector digital transformation initiatives.

Thriving in a culture of trust

»Netcompany fosters an environment where growth feels natural, not forced,« Marianna explains. Throughout her tenure with the company, she’s received unwavering support through tailored training, mentoring, and guidance. »Each step felt like an assertive decision rather than a leap of faith,« she shares. This culture of trust allowed her to thrive in demanding roles while retaining autonomy over her professional development. »When you love what you do,« she adds, »it becomes easier to face challenges, navigate obstacles, and maintain a positive attitude, even on the most difficult days.«

»What makes us special is our differences, but what drives our success is our shared commitment to excellence.«

Strength through diversity

Starting eight years ago with just two recruits, Marianna has built an impressive team of currently 22 professionals who both challenge and complement each other. »What makes us special is our differences, but what drives our success is our shared commitment to excellence,«  she reflects. »The unique contributions we carry derive from our diverse background and contribute to fostering innovation and creativity.«  This blend of perspectives creates a dynamic environment where ideas can sometimes be challenged and refined but are always heard and respected, allowing the team to feel valued and consistently deliver above and beyond. »While it might seem easier to lead a group of people who all think alike, true innovation comes from varied approaches to problem-solving – as demonstrated by our team’s ability to adapt and excel during various challenges,« she emphasises.

The human side of leadership

Drawing on her multifaceted experience, Marianna has developed a distinctive management philosophy shaped by her dedication to diversity, inclusion, and personal growth. »Project management isn’t just about technical skills,«  she explains. »It’s about building genuine trust and personal relationships with your team, colleagues, or clients. There is no big secret here – successful people management is the result of putting in the time, committing to understanding each person’s unique way of working and adapting your approach to bring out their best.«

»Choose a profession you love because when passion meets purpose, excellence naturally follows.«

Empowering future leaders in IT

Inspired by trailblazing women who have redefined leadership, Marianna is passionate about mentoring the next generation of IT professionals. Through various initiatives and organisations, she encourages young women to break industry norms and pursue careers in technology. Her extensive academic background, including a Master’s in ICT Education and PhD research in digital transformation, reflects her dedication to advancing the field. »We’ve faced and managed significant pressures to get here, and it is now our turn to make the journey smoother for those who follow,« she reflects.
