Netcompany reappointed for launch of new transit customs solution

Netcompany has been reappointed by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to deliver the New Computerised Transit System Phase 6 (NCTS6), continuing a collaboration that UK and European requirements.

Netcompany has secured a new appointment to deliver the NCTS6 for HMRC, building on the successful delivery and ongoing support of NCTS5. The continued contract will see Netcompany deliver upgrades to meet evolving European compliance requirements and align with UK national requirements and solutions. NCTS6 is a legal requirement of all Common Transit Convention (CTC) member countries, including the UK.

NCTS5 went live on 28 June 2024 for Northern Ireland and 1 July for Great Britain, fundamentally improving how traders move goods through the UK. The implementation replaced legacy systems with a modern, automated platform that reduces administrative burden, accelerates processing times and delivers enhanced control and visibility across the entire transit process. This has strengthened the UK’s digital customs capabilities among CTC member countries.

The Phase 6 appointment reflects Netcompany’s proven capability in delivering critical government systems through its ERMIS solution, a complete suite of customs management tools that can be tailored to each customs administration’s needs and updated as requirements change over time. The continued partnership will now build on the functionality delivered in Phase 5 while ensuring HMRC meets evolving EU compliance requirements.

»Responsible digitalisation drives everything we do. Our continued work through this latest phase is crucial in supporting HMRC in protecting UK borders and facilitating appropriate tax collections on imported, exported and transited goods.«

Richard Davies, Country Managing Partner UK, Netcompany

»The ERMIS solution delivers the compliance and functionality required to maintain efficient trade flows between the UK and EU, which directly supports economic growth and business competitiveness. As trade requirements continue to evolve, our focus remains on delivering systems that meet regulatory obligations while minimising operational complexity for traders,« says Richard Davies.

With work commencing in 2026, Phase 6 represents the continued evolution of the NCTS, which has progressively modernised transit management and control across CTC member countries since replacing paper-based systems in the early 2000s. As trade volumes increase and regulatory requirements become more demanding, the system remains fundamental to the UK’s customs operations.

Netcompany’s ERMIS Customs solution currently supports HMRC’s transit activities within Borders & Trade, facilitating over 2 million transit declarations annually in the UK. Within the EU the same Netcompany platform processes over 20 million declarations and 150 million transactions annually.
