01. Master the art of asking

The first key lesson I learned since I started was to ask for help. I was terrible at asking for support and taking advice when I joined my team. I thought I could do things on my own, but now I know it’s better to ask, to be open, and to listen to what others are saying.

02. Enjoy what you do

I like to compare my work with having fun in a sandbox. I think it is a great analogy for the whole process of what I do. Coding and creating IT systems is a bit like making things out of the sand with a plastic mould. You get to try many times and in different ways, and the best part is when you see the results.

03. Take advantage of your personality

The type of person that I am really helps in my everyday work. I’m very persistent and love games and all sorts of puzzles. When I face a problem, I absolutely need to find the solution. This keeps me going every day – my urge to find the answer.

04. Get to know your team

I think it is very important – to bond with your team and to have a good connection. This way, your collaboration is easier, and it just makes coming to work more fun.

05. Share what you know

I know that there is still a lot more for me to learn. But I feel like there are some areas that I’m already excelling at – and I like that I’m able to share my knowledge with others. It’s very rewarding to be the one answering questions and giving advice.
