When you think of Copenhagen’s iconic neighbourhoods, Christianshavn is undoubtedly on the list. This man-made island, founded by King Christian IV in the 17th century, draws inspiration from the charming canal cities of the Netherlands, such as Amsterdam. As you stroll through Christianshavn’s picturesque streets, you’ll feel a deep connection to the historical roots of this unique area.

Throughout much of the 20th century, Christianshavn was a humble working-class district, facing the looming threat of demolition. However, the 1970s ushered in a renaissance for the neighbourhood, with ambitious restoration plans ensuring the preservation of its historic buildings. Today, Christianshavn has evolved into one of Copenhagen’s most coveted places to call home – a home we are proud to share with our colleagues.
